(2) I would love to see more Atlantic/Caribbean fish, especially some of those native to the Florida Keys.If Javascript is disabled in your browser click here Though I don't know how the graphics engine for this app works, I would think this could be done by randomly scaling each fish model up or down within about a 10% range. (1) When the "more than one of a single species of fish" is selected, it would be nice of each fish of a single species varied slightly in size. I don't mind the lack of interactivity or the fact that the objects in the tank aren't customizable - it's relaxing to me just watch the fish swim around, and the aquarium the developers have designed is very colorful and realistic. I love it, and am glad I found the iPad version. I bought the original screensaver version of this app for my iMac years ago, and it's still the most realistic looking aquarium app I've ever seen. If you're looking for interaction and customization, keep searching but if all you're after is a realistic fish scene, look no further. Bottom line is: it's basically like a 3D fish screensaver (and maybe that's what the developers were going for). There are far better aquarium simulations available in the app store, however, if you're just looking for a pretty scene to look at and you don't care about the camera following fish, feeding them or any of that, then this app certainly achieves it, all while looking incredibly gorgeous. You're stuck with one coral reef and one gradient background and it can become boring after a while. The lack of tank customization is another thing. There's no interaction with the fish and you can't choose which types you want in the tank as it randomly generates different fish everytime you open the app. Basically you just watch the fish and you can control the brightness of the background and foreground. While Marine Aquarium looks great, its shortcomings are in its complete lack of features. The fish look and move incredibly realistically and the coral decorations, bubbles and light-ripple effects are probably the best I've seen in any aquarium app, though I find that the bubble sound effects actually get on my nerves rather than soothe me it's too fast and high-pitched. Thanks.Īs far as looks go, this app has amazing graphics. A port of version 3.2 would be worth the money for me. Otherwise, this is a good app and I look forward to any improvements (hopefully). I use it at work when I am writing my notes and I find it a pain to manually move the focus around in the tank. Third, and most important, having features that allow auto-zoom and auto panning would really benefit this app. Second, having more control over fish selection would be nice as well. First, allowing some background music might be a plus. The app could have some nice enhancements that would give it 5 stars in my opinion and I ask the authors to consider these. If you are looking for a relaxing aquarium app with nice sound and good graphics, this is a good choice. If you are looking for an aquarium game that involves feeding and growing fish, this is not for you. The fish and the background objects in the tank standout very nice. First off, the graphics using Retina 4 display is pretty good. In my opinion, this app is on par with their work on computer platforms considering the limitations of iPod Touch/iPhone. I used to own them and presently own version 3.0 for my iMac so I am familiar with the quality of work by this company. Marine Aquarium 2.6 is a port of the Mac/PC version created years ago. A very nice app needing only minor adjustments
